Artist Statement

As an artist, I strive to transcend traditional canvases, moving beyond walls and into the textures of fabric and the forms of wearable art. My work is not meant to sit static in a gallery but to live, breathe, and evolve with the people who wear it. I am deeply inspired by nature, and by placing my art in outdoor settings, I let the natural world complete the pieces, adding dynamic layers that change with the seasons and the light. Through this, I hope to merge art, fashion, and nature, creating a dialogue between the human experience and the world around us.

The isolation of the pandemic deeply affected my work. My paintings from that period feel like lonely figures with broken heads turned to trees—twisted, unbound, yet detached. While the trees seemed free, the women in my art were trapped, rooted into the earth like they were struggling to break free. This experience pushed me to confront my own boundaries, to strip away my inner restrictions.

In 2022, I traveled to Europe, visiting the Venice Biennale and the Musée d’Orsay, meeting artists whose works shattered my understanding of art. This journey broke me open; I felt the need to redefine everything. Hafez’s words became my guide: “You yourself are your own veil… Remove yourself from in between.” These lines encouraged me to remove my own barriers, to move beyond the labels and limitations I had placed on myself.

Today, I work to create without borders—free from cultural definitions, free from gendered expectations. I seek to be more than a “Middle Eastern artist” or a “woman artist.” I simply want to be an artist, exploring themes without labels. I am no longer interested in strict composition or categorization. My goal is to let my work flow unrestrained, to embody a freedom that is unbounded, pure, and constantly evolving.
